This review is from: Mornings in Jenin (Kindle Edition)
A deeply moving and sad novel. In theory, the novel is about the Jenin massacre, but when I googled it after reading, I found that this massacre is still contested in history - did it even happen? (The author claims to have been there, so I take her word for it as far as the novel goes...) This was a book which stayed with me long after I read it. It showed the limits of people's patience and how much they can suffer until they snap, i.e., turn to violence. Ironically, despite all the sadness, it is also quite uplifting - I liked the way that the women cared for each other, the love for one's family, and the lengths people were prepared to go in order to save their loved ones.
