Bit of a pain if you just want to make one dish,
This review is from: Jamie's 30-Minute Meals: A Revolutionary Approach to Cooking Good Food Fast (Hardcover)
I have tried a couple of the recipes which turned out very well but the format of the book is not as simple as it could be.
The book is set out so that it will show you how to create a starter, main and dessert all in 30 minutes but unlike other books where it will explain all the steps for the starter then the main for example this book jumps between them all so will tell you to fry the chicken then it will jump to preparing the sides and then to the dessert then back to the chicken.
This works very well if you making all the items but if you just want the starter or the dessert you will find yourself having to work out the various timings or what steps you have do to. I would have preferred to have all the steps for each course.

B. King says:
Find it much the same, and some of the ingredients have short shelf lives, so you need to make the same dish many times in one month to use them up before they just end up in the bin. Worse than that the list of tools and general ingredients that you need to be able to complete the meals in 30 minutes is quite daunting. Caused my girlfriend to drag me to the shops to buy a £170 Magi-mix food processor, because that's what Jamie has... urgh.

Stuart Duncan says:
Yip I know, you could blitz the recipes if you have all the prep done as he has in his shows but for the rest of us it takes a bit longer than 30minutes.
We got a magimix the other day as well, thankfully not becuase of Jamie but it has still not been used! Alas another kitchen gadget...!!

I understand your frustration but his objective is to get the whole meal done so it follows that he will jump about a bit to get everything ready in as short a time as poss.

The book is titled 'Jamie's 30 MINUTE MEALS' - and its purpose is to show how to prepare and cook a complete meal in 30 minutes. In order to achieve this, you will have to jump from one thing to another to make full use of the time. If you just want a starter or a dessert, this is not the book for you!
