well what can you say, this book, accompanying the TV series answers a lot of questions and lays to rest an awful lot of myths about England. Many of the subjects covered to me are amazing as I do not recall learning about these things in school, if we did it was brushed over. Now it may seem dim of me but I did not realise the Richard the Lionheart hardly ever spent any time in England, which begs the question why does the modern English citizen believe so passionatly in the three lions myth (football fans are to blame I think). What it boils down to though is a woefully inadequate standard of history teaching in the majority of our schools. They could go a long way to resolving this by purchasing this book and relaying the information to the children. History makes us who we are and this book is England, it is us!
