Why a cliffhanger?,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Endeavour - Series 2 [DVD] (DVD)
I have been a fan of Morse, then Lewis and all the episodes of Endeavor except the last one. I rate it three stars because of the (to me) unsatisfactory "cliffhanger" ending. Are the ratings so low as to justify the ending? I have enjoyed the tone and quality of all three series but that last episode of Endeavor was really disappointing and didn't keep the spirit of all the series. While I enjoy "Downton Abbey" with its' 'see what happens next episode style', I don't feel it is appropriate for Endeavour.

Totally agree with these comments. This "end a series on a cliffhanger" has become a most unwelcome trend with TV series these days. I've no objection to keeping viewers in suspense between episodes within a single series, but it is quite ridiculous to leave everything up in the air for what may be possibly be a year or more. And that always assumes that further series will be made which can never be guaranteed.

It's just not on. It comes down to one writer without the chops. Most successful series have two writers. Need to spend the extra dosh for the all important second writer. Get on it you stingy so and so's at ITV!
