Useful for rehabiltation and increased mobility,
This review is from: 66Fit Wobble Cushion, Pump & DVD - Blue, 35 cm (Sports)
The difficulty with reviewing fitness equipment, is that other readers have a wide range of motor skills, strength, and motivation that may differ markedly from the reviewer. That difficulty increases when the equipment - such as the Wobble Cushion - can also be used for rehabilation from injury or surgery : guidance from a physiotherapist is vital if any equipment is used in those circumstances.
The Wobble Cushion is an inflatable plastic disc with walls about 5 cm high. With a small amount of air, the disc is reasonably flat. With more air, the upper and lower parts of the disc become curved - like a 'flying saucer' - so that the centre is about 10cm high. Less air tends to make it easier to balance on it, more air makes it less easy.
As much as I like using a BOSU in the gym, the small size of the Wobble Cushion is more suited to the home than a BOSU. For me, the primary use of the Wobble Cushion is improving balance and mobility by balancing on it with one leg, even when I'm cleaning my teeth. Lunges are possible with the leading foot on the cushion, but they need care as it has a small base. V Sits and Pilates exercises whilst sat on it are challenging, but that could be my lack of ability.
I use the Wobble Cushion on a hard surface, as the flexible protrusions on one side cause depressions in the carpet that take a little while to disappear.
* good value for money;
* versatile for recovering from injury (with guidance) or improving
balance and mobility for sports and general fitness (and honing BOSU
skills in the gym);
* sufficiently compact and light for use in the home.
