This review is from: Goodbye Columbus: And Five Short Stories (Paperback)
Not a book I imagine that Roth will look back on with especial pride. In truth the opening tale in this book of short stories is stiff, turgid and an ordeal to read. The best idea would be to skip it completely, but it does take up about half the book. The rest of the stories however are more absorbing and some are actually quite excellent. Eli the Fanatic stands out as a great story. Whether the full book is worth the cash is a different matter though.
