A lot better than the 2, the best out there for the money UPDATE,
This review is from: GoPro Hero 3 Edition Camcorder - Black (12 MP) (Camera)
This camera is a great improvement on the previous iteration.
That said there are still some foibles, You will need to update your cameras firmware straight away, As there is a bug very early shipping firmware that can cause the camera to lock up.
The firmware update process is quite easy But you do have to do it via GoPro's update website. The picture quality of this camera is very good especially if you turn on the protune option. This increases the bit rate considerably but also turns off some of the in camera sharpening and reduces the color makes the picture look flat as well. This makes it more suitable for grading later on.
Also much improved over the previous version of this camera is the rolling shutter effect which is almost completely disappeared from the new camera. The quality of the onboard sound recording is also much improved, it's pretty usable now. The older versions were awful.
The included remote is very handy, Quite a clever little device as it can control up to 50 cameras at the same time. You can also download an app for your phone control the camera, the range is very impressive about 30m indoors. The app makes it so much easier to control the phone, a real must have.
With all the best picture quality options turned on the wireless in use the battery life is about 30 minutes, not good. Even if you buy the battery BacPac this only increases battery life to about 54 minutes in total (both batteries together).
Also turning on protune, recording 1080 50p you get 90 mins on a 32GB card, beware of 64GB cards at the moment because of stories on the Internet of the camera frying these cards. If you turn off the 50p and protune options you get over 2 hours battery life with the internal and the bacpac combined (wifi off). However with all the options turned on, wifi, protune and 50p you will only get about 30mins use with the standard battery.
Go pro seem to have really listened to previous user feedback with this camera and have implemented lots of useful changes.
I've seen a couple of these cameras with overheating issues, even after the 1st firmware upgrade
As of the end of April there is another firmware version available which seems to have cured all the bugs
