This review is from: These Wonderful Rumours!: A Young Schoolteacher's Wartime Diaries 1939-1945 (Kindle Edition)
I found this book fascinating, recalling my mother's tales of her war. She was a similar age to May and somehow it brought back her stories. Having spent a lifetime in teaching I found May's diary riveting. She was obviously a feisty character and her words are powerful and humorous. I was sorry to reach the end.

Mrs Christine R Ward says:
I enjoyed May's diaries, mainly because she was a friend of my mother's. They were at school together in the sixth form, and I have photos of them all at Geary where they gathered together to play tennis, as noted in the diaries. Many of the school friends May writes about have written in my late mother's autograph book from those years, and May herself painted a beautiful water-colour picture for her, which I treasure - especially now I have read the diaries.
