Not worth the money,
This review is from: Torchwood: The Lost Files (Radio Drama Box Set) (BBC Audio) (Audio CD)
The Devil and Miss Carew: I only refer to this because after listen to it I didn't even bother to listen to the other plays. Compared to the former Radio Plays all I can say is: This is not worth the money. This story is so badly written, it hurts and ti'S a shame for a shwo whcih once was so interesting like Torchwood.
The major question which stays unanswered as it is in Children of Earth. Why didn't Jack look for new team members? Gwen managed to be even more annoying and naïve then ever. How did she made it through police training? That one does not confront a potentially dangerous suspect without backup surely is amongst the first things anyone learns there. She obviously did not even carry a weapon. So yeah the phone connection with Jack and Ianto broke down but why didn't she leave a written note to Rhys? Rhys has to look into her computer (quite conveniently that she didn't empty the cache) and save her ass. While Gwen things she can sweet-talk her way out of anything because she of course is so understanding and caring.
The hub is the only save and working place during a worldwide energy crisis but Jack leaves it unmanned (see question above) to go with Ianto on a ghost chase in the country side. Besides some stupid innuendos on the level of a five-year-old he's only doing in this story was trying to talk an alien out of conquering Earth, while talking with an on old radio it sued to communicate. Reminded me so much of the Kirk-talks-a-computer-to-death-scenes of Classic Star Trek, just that he did so much better. Jack should take a lesson or two. Ianto was barely there for any purpose at all.
The actors did their best with the given script but the script shouldn't have made it in prduction at all. Even for Torchwood, not ever the most logical show on aerth, this reached new lows.

I agree The Devil and Miss Carew is really bad but the other two are quite nice.

L. Wilmshurst says:
You really can't judge the whole set on the strength (or, indeed, lack of strength) of the first story alone. You really should have listened to the whole set before reviewing it.
