Excellent but short life shaver with yesteryear charging time.,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Remington F3800 Dual Foil Shaver (Personal Care)
REVISED by edit after 20 months use:
About 3 months back, the rubber seal inside kept coming off. Remington UK were very nice on the phone and said that although that spare is not listed, they would dispatch a replacement. No sign of the replacement so far but it held on with some Copydex.
Yesterday, I went to use the trimmer and when I released the catch, the entire trimmer attachment flew across the room, landing on the floor in 5 pieces. The reason for the failure was that both plastic hinge lugs had failed, so not repairable.
My conclusion is that this is not the original bullet proof all American Remington as used by John Wayne but,as the whole shaver is so cheap it is still a good buy. BUT make sure you never waste money on replacement foils and cutters and be prepared to replace the whole shaver after a year to 18 months. You could claim on the two year guarantee but how many weeks can you manage without a shaver ?
BE WARNED the very long charge time is/was not stated in the advert( black mark Amazon). It requires an initial charge of 24 hours, then 16 hours after that, with 24 recommended occasionally. Just work that into your life style. If you shave twice a day, you will need a spare shaver during charging because this one cannot be used on the mains or while charging.
The good thing is that you should then get about two weeks or more out of it. My shaver is still lasting THREE WEEKS with one fussy shave a day. This more than makes up for the long charge time.
I shave once a day but take some time as my stubble is now very tough and difficult. I found the shave performance very good as long as you remember to use it with a very light touch for long stubble and slightly firmer pressure for the final shave. Shaving time is twice as fast as my last shaver. The trimmer WAS also excellent before it disintegrated. Cleaning the blade is very easy indeed, it removes with a half twist and the spring below is sensibly captive.
CONCLUSION: This is a fragile shaver, with incredible charge duration but lacking a fast charge transformer and any type of travel case. It is small and fairly flat so suited to travel if well packed. At the current budget price of about £22 it has no sensible competitor. I would buy again but hope a more durable alternative comes on the market.

Can anyone please tell me if this has a section which comes up to trim nose hairs, like earlier Remington shavers?

It does not have a specific nasal hair trimmer but the sideboard trimmer is very slender and produdes out a long way so can get into some tight corners, dealing with protruding hair from nose, ears and back of neck. I have now given this model F3800, 9 months of service. It still holds charge for 3 weeks and I cope with the long charge time by placing a reminder on my calendar.
