I have tried a Kate Lace book in the past (Gypsy Wedding) and I couldn't get along with it. When I saw her new book I instantly loved the cover - it really stands out - and I thought it sounded very Jilly Cooper/Jo Carnegie. This book has a few characters but the main ones are Amy, Dan and Rollo, who are all very into their rowing. The story follows them as they battle to get into the British Olympic Rowing team. This is a book clearly well researched. Lace has worked hard to make this seem really authentic. I didn't think I was that interested in rowing but I found myself zipping through this book and finding it a cracking read! I loved all the characters - even Rollo who could be a real pain at times. The book reminded me of Lulu Taylor's books as I was reading it. The book lost a star for one reason and it was nothing to do with the story. The book had far too many mistakes, both in spelling and grammar. There really is no excuse - if you expect me to pay for a book it should be properly proof read. This is a great Summer read and I really enjoyed it. I will be looking out for more of her work in the future x Comments

I know about the mistakes and I can only apologise. It was a real battle to get it out in time for the Olympics - that was a deadline we couldn't shift so I'm afraid the proof reading was done at a lick. But I really hope it didn't spoil things too much. I'll do better next time! :-)
