This review is from: Butterworths Employment Law Handbook (Paperback)
The purpose of the book is to gather together the legislative source materials that an Employment Law practitioner needs. In addition to UK Statutes and Statutory Instruments it contains European Legislation and Statutory Guidance and Codes of Practice.
If you intend to go anywhere near a tribunal (whether the Employment Tribunal or the Employment Appeal Tribunal) you simply cannot manage without this book, not least because all Employment Judges and EAT Judges are issued with a copy. It is the book they will expect you to refer to when citing statutory provisions.
An important note about this edition: In order to keep it to a single volume, this edition omits the legislative instruments that have been replaced by the Equality Act 2010. So, for instance, the Sex Discrimination Act 1976 is not included. The decision is an understandable one but the new Act is so recently in force that there are still cases working their way through the Tribunals to which the old law applies. That is the sole caveat - this is an indispensable work.
