Pay less by not buying this book!,
This review is from: How to pay less for more: The consumer's guide to negotiating the best deals - whatever you're buying (Paperback)I don't often write reviews, but I was spurred to write this because I think this book is a con.
It states some basic, obvious ideas, such as:
- if you buy more, you're more likely to be able to get a discount
- researching the product / supplier / market beforehand is likely to be helpful when negotiating
- a conditional offer only commits you if the other party meets your conditions.
It then repeats the same thoughts endlessly, just using different scenarios - cars, houses, holidays etc.
Fortunately, I borrowed it from the library - I'd have been very unhappy if I'd paid money for it! Even so, I'm a bit annoyed at the the time I've wasted on it.
A long time ago I bought a book called Everything Is Negotiable by Gavin Kennedy. It's much more interesting to read, more thought-provoking and has got a lot more meat in it.
