This review is from: The Mammoth Book of the Funniest Cartoons of All Time (Mammoth Books) (Paperback)CONTENT:
Black & white. 100+ cartoonists e.g. Banx, Simon Bond, Graham, Handelsman, Heath, Honeysett, Hoffnung, Larry, McLachlan, Mahood, Matt, Ken Pyne, Thelwell, Bill Tidy, and some I'd not heard of, plus a few lines (not "biographies" as advertised) about each. 26 chapters by subject e.g. animals & pets, computers, food & drink, religion, politics, space & aliens.
Humour's subjective but this really is a mixed bag: some raise a chuckle, a few are hilarious, some "miss". The book caters for a wide humour range hence as many cartoonists as possible. So many cartoonists means only a few cartoons per artist, and the best cartoonists have about equal showing with the others. This 2006 edition includes some "classic" cartoons that have been around a while.
The title _is_ funny (?intended) but the book can't and doesn't live up to it. With 450 cartoons advertised you should like some at least. But the book's too big considering the number of chuckles. Read it, enjoy, scan and keep favourites, then take to a charity shop so someone else can do the same.
