This review is from: People & Permaculture (Paperback)
For those that have thought deeply about sustainability but that permaculture is just about gardening, and maybe you don't have a garden or access to land, this book reveals that you too can apply common sense design to your own life and beyond. For those that have gotten in to permaculture through the land, this book reveals why even with the best intentions our projects often break down at the personal level. As such it is the missing link between our intentions and our actions, and describes with pragmatic examples and eloquent prose ways in which we can be both held back from, and released to attaining our visions. Much work has been done on the earth care aspects of permaculture, and we can be confident that we have the techniques and approaches to heal damaged earth and create abundance for all, everywhere. But very little has been done on the people care, other than by assuming that if the earth is healthy so will the people. Unfortunately this is not enough, and there are many examples of personal, group and organisational initiatives that have failed not because of soil, water or temperature, but because people have not been able to get over their own limits of communication and forming and managing relationships. This book uses permaculture principles and design process to address these needs and unleash the potential we all have to act collectively and individually. We gotta do it!
