Timeshift meets Half Life 2 in a bar....,
This review is from: Singularity (Xbox 360) (Video Game)
And the result of their night of gaming passion is Singularity. Here we have an old school first person shooter and it's not afraid to show it.
Singularity does what it says on the box. It has no lofty ambitions to be anything other than a good time and I doff my hat. This game is BRILLIANT fun. Sure, you've played it before in other guises but whilst it's certainly generic every ingredient required to have a good time is here. Shooting mechanics? Perfect. Weapons? Awesome. Enemies? Plentiful.
If you're after some meaty gunplay then grab Singularity. The storyline is functional but it's tied together superbly with some interesting flashbacks and scattered recordings. There are some basic puzzles thrown in for good measure, each generally using the same time shifting mechanic but they provide a nice change of pace nonetheless.
Frequent auto saves prevent frustration, keeping you marching forward and the making the game pace tight. Visually the game won't turn many heads but it's not a game to sit back and enjoy the scenery. You'll be too busy scanning for butt to kick to care about textures. It's certainly not ugly but it won't pull the prom queen either.
Overall it's a mighty fine single player with great pace, excellent controls and cool weapons. Sadly I can't comment on the multiplayer as it would seem around only 15 people in the world own the game. So as there is no apparent community consider this a single player purchase only. If you can get it for a reasonable price then it's highly recommended.
