An erudite and withering deconstruction of Saganism,

This review is from: Carl Sagan and Immanuel Velikovsky (Paperback)Carl Sagan was long known as one of the world's premier cosmologists and a darling of the television due to his hit TV series Cosmos, and is widely remembered as an intellectual titan, mostly by people who spend their lives in front of television. Unfortunately for Sagan, his attempts to refute the theories of Immanuel Velikovsky constituted the beginning of the end of his own mystique for in order to do so he apparently found it necessary to lie through his teeth, wilfully misrepresenting nearly every single word Velikovsky ever said in such an obvious fashion that it really was only a matter of time before real academics took him to task.
In this superbly argued deconstruction of Sagan's lies, evasions and distortions, Charles Ginenthal demonstrates quite clearly that Sagan should rightly be remembered more as a entertainer than as a serious cosmologist. Additionally, by their unswerving support of Sagan the scientific establishment at large also demonstrated their culpability and ego-driven stupidity; this is also highlighted by Ginenthal. In the course of detailing Sagan's dishonesty, or his schoolboyishly shoddy research, or both, Ginenthal highlights much additional evidence which tends to reinforce Velikovsky's theories and, whilst of course not proving those theories, at the least puts them beyond the reach of the standard "debunkers" and their tactics based solely on dishonesty, of whom Sagan was the last major figure.
Thoroughly recommended for anyone who has read Velikovsky's work, this is as complete a destruction of an establishment liar as you are ever likely to read. How telling it is that without exception every negative reviewer has not read either this book or Velikovsky's, and what an upside down world it is where those negative reviewers, dishonest to a person, who have not read any of the subject matter in question, then cry "pseudo-science", as though they have the first idea what science even is. The fact that they cry "pseudo-science" in defence of liars such as Sagan and other establishment drones of his ilk demonstrates quite clearly the truth of this.
