Good, but not particularly in depth,
This review is from: Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Sky (Bradygames Signature Guides) (Paperback)
I'll start with the good. The book is very nicely laid out and has some really nice artwork. I've only noticed a couple of mistakes. Some official guides have loads of mistakes, so this is a good thing.
It's got all the information you'd expect from a guide book. However it could have a lot more. A lot of the information is just a copy of what you can get in game anyway, such as the bestiary. Although it does mean you can find that information without having to unlock it, it doesn't add any extra details to it. On many occasions I found myself looking at online guides to find the information I wanted. For example the book tells you what items you need for alchemy recipes, but there is no table for you to quickly look up where you can obtain each item. Some online guides also go into a lot more details for things like grottos which are a major part of the game if you want to play it past the main story.
I bought this book to have a nicer looking and more convenient way to find the information I want compared to scrolling through black and white text files on my computer screen. While it does look a lot nicer and is generally better laid out than online guides, it just doesn't have the same detailed information despite the book being quite thick.
