4.0 out of 5 stars Unpolished, and all the better for thast., 31 Jan 2012

This review is from: MIDNIGHT ORGAN FIGHT (Audio CD)
Tracks 2. 5 and 6 are the best, and they are very good. Others are good or so-so. This is at times raw stuff. Bland it is not, and in a world of smooth pap, that is hugely refreshing. If you want to categorise it then its probably nu-folk, but without the feyness or pretension of some other bands that attract that label. That I cannot think of a nother band they sound like is a compliment. This lot are striking out on their own - not always succesfully I agree - some songs sound contrived, pointlessly aggressive. forced or dirge like fillers, but there are enough good tracks here to maje this worth buying. Polished it isnt, and IMHO thats a virtue.

Interesting reading your review. When I first got this album a few years back, I would have chosen the same 3 tracks as my favourites. I then changed to track 1 and 4. Now after listening to this album probably a hundred times, I just couldn't pick a favourite anymore. I find it sensational from start to finish which is a real rarity. This album goes in my top 5 ever.
