Oh, the memories!,
This review is from: Children Of The Stones: The Complete Series [DVD] (DVD)I only watched this series on TV once. I was about nine, and video recorders weren't generally available in those days. As far as I know it was never repeated, either. And yet, I have such clear memories of the programme. It had a powerful impact on me at the time, because I had never seen anything like it. As an SF fan in the seventies, I wasn't really used to seeing things on kids' TV that really meant much to me. Basically, it was this and The Tomorrow People.
Watching it now as an adult, I'm a little more critical. Comparisons with The Wicker Man are justified. But there is some astonishing ham acting, and some very dodgy science. This doesn't matter at all; it is pure nostalgic delight.
