Far better than you could ever imagine,
This review is from: God of War Platinum (PS2) (Video Game)
Like many, many people before me i was highly skeptical when it came to this game. I walked past it countless times in stores, yet each time i came to a lose end in searching for a new game i passed up God of War. Everytime i picked up the case and had a read it just didn't grab me, it looked from the picture on the back like a standard fighting game. Luckily for me i got onto Amazon and started to find that the reviews were very accurate when it came to other games i had brought. Thats how i got onto God of War. I've owned probably 50 games on the PS2 as well as countless games on other platforms and God of War stands head and shoulders above the rest. Obviously you can't go wrong with the likes of San Andreas but this is something else altogether.
The graphics grab your attention from the start, they're just so smooth, then the voice acting is just perfect.
The controls are very fluid and take no time at all to master.
The game starts off like a basic hack 'n' slash but you quickly find that theres so much more underneath the surface. Weapons can be upgraded, new weapons and magic added and also upgraded. With every level up you also open up another swathe of attacks and combos.
Also being set in Greek Mythology adds that dark yet beautiful feeling to the levels and creatures you encounter.
I don't want to give away any of the storyline as i think everyone whos even remotely interested in playing games should give this a go. You will not be dissappointed.
Also a great deal of effort has gone into the 'extras', making it evident that the makes of this game put all they had into it. This will keep you hooked for quite a while after completing the game and sadly leave you hanging until the next one, but thats a good thing as its not too far away now!
Good Parts: Greek Mythology- always good, Perfect control and camera use, great RPG-feel, deep story-line and very, very brutal.
I will be getting God of War 2 the moment it comes out and probably be taking a week off work.
