Yet another Kosmiche classic!,
This review is from: Planeten Sit in (Audio CD)
'Planeten Sit-In' is possibly - for me- the most interesting Cosmic Jokers album. Whereas the previous 2 albums ('Cosmic Jokers' & 'Galactic Suprmarket') had been about long drawn-out space jams, what we have here are a number of short, heavily electronic pieces, most of which are linked to the previous track. The album kicks off with a spiralling, piercing electronic pulse which leads into some stilted percussion jamming - which carries through into track 2. Track 5 - 'Raumschiff Galaxy Fliegt In Die Sonne' - is sci-fi music at its best - scary synth music that builds, until joined by some kosmiche jamming - it only lasts for just over 2 minutes, but its really very effective. It's only on track 6 that things return to previous Joker's territory. Track 8, 'Electronic News', is like some kind of Lee Perry mid 70's dub track, only more spacey. The rest of the album carries on in pretty much the same vein and reaches a climax with the 8 minute+ 'Der Planet Des Sernmadchens' - which throbbs and rumbles to a most satisfying end. A wonderful album and yet another Jokers classic!
