What a rush,
This review is from: Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol [DVD] (DVD)
Here are some reasons why MI4 is such an adrenaline rush of a movie:
Fantastic Stunts. Especially the scene set 130 floors up the Burj Khalifa building. This is likely to leave you sweaty palmed and woozy with vertigo.
Crunchy fight scenes. Taking a cue from Bourne and Bond, during fights bones crack, sinews twang and blood spills.
Exciting chases. Whether on foot or in car, the chases are thunderously good fun.
Brad Bird. In his first live action movie, the director of The Incredible invests MI4 with zip and crackle
Simon Pegg. More than just comic relief, his naturalistic acting style is a nice counterbalance to Cruise, whose earnest intensity can be a little disconcerting in what is essentially a popcorn action movie.
It I were to be critical I'd have to say that Jeremy Renner is underused and looks a little uncomfortable. At present he seems an actor more at home in a movie like Hurt Locker than this (relatively) lightweight offering.
The baddies aren't that memorable.
Also, the pace does flag a little during the third act. But, really, these are just quibbles. This is a great action movie - building on the excellent 3rd instalment. The gauntlet has been thrown down for the upcoming Borne and Bond films.
