This review is from: Limitless (Paperback)I admit that I saw the film first, but was a bit irritated by the gaping plot holes. Reviews online suggested the book was different enough to the film and overcame those plot problems, so I thought I'd give it try.
The book is a heck of a lot more realistic (as fiction gets!), and a lot more contained. Although the character actions are the same as portrayed in the film up to a point, the reasonings are a lot more evident than in the movie script. The annoying questions left hanging (such as why was nothing resolved about the dead girl, how could Eddie simply forget to pay the money back to the loanshark mobster) are all handled differently in the book. The ending is more rational than either of the filmed endings.
It's not a heavy book, but well worth an escapist read - especially if the film left you jealous of Eddie's MDT-48 resources.
