Deep Purple - BURN,
This review is from: Burn (Audio CD)
One word, wow!
After the collapse of MK II, everyone thought that was the end, even the band themselves! But after exstensive auditioning, two men were selected to replace the irreplacable (Ian Gillan and Roger Glover)
David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes were plucked from obscurity to front the greatest rock band on Earth, and they don't fail to fill the shoes of Glover and Gillan.
Burn is the first album by DP MK III, and is definately the best. The title track, Burn, is 6 minutes of pure rock heaven. However, the 7 other songs on Burn are equally impressive. Stand out tracks would have to be Sail Away and Mistreated, although, it's all good!
If you like Burn, have a look at MK III's best concert, Deep Purple Live At The California Jam. The songs are great and Ritchie manages to destroy a television camera AND blow up half the stage!!!
However, Burn proves that there is life after MK II, and it still sounds very, very good!
