So I started this damn country band...,
This review is from: Faithless Street (Audio CD)
I'm a big Ryan Adams fan and feel the man can't do much wrong throughout the various parts of his career. But I had a bootleg of this album for some time and slightly dismissed it as early, almost unfinished work that would be later surpassed in Strangers Almanac, Heartbreaker etc.
After buying this reissue version with improved sound and extra tracks I'm amazed by just how wrong I was. Songs like 'Here's to the Rest of the World' are Whiskeytown at their very best and they hardly put a foot wrong on 21 tracks.
Even if you're put off by some of Ryan's recent music ('Rock n' Roll'?) or don't like a bit of country twang on yer CDs I'm sure you'd appreciate this if you're at all interested in classic songwriting. Any fans of Dylan, Neil Young, Springsteen etc can't go wrong with this little beauty.
