Supremely Well Crafted...,
This review is from: On A Wing & A Prayer (Audio CD)
Gerry Rafferty was a unique vocalist but what really stands out about this album is the musicianship. This man was quite simply a master craftsmen and his music was both polished and yet packed an emotive punch. There is so much beauty on offer here and every track is accomplished and memorable in its own right, not least owing to the uncompromisingly raw lyrical content. Quite frankly a newcomer to the Rafferty canon cannot go wrong with any of his albums but this one is distinctive in that it is quite clearly his most personal work. It also includes the incredibly addictive gem that is 'I See Red', a song I could never tire of. Rafferty's voice is fabulous throughout.
Ironic then that while Gerry Rafferty disliked what fame brought him albums like this deserved to sell so much better then they did. For those in the know his music will remain timeless.

Is I See Red the song that Clannad and Frida covered?

It sure is.. I didn't know about these covers to be honest but would be interested to hear the Clannad version. It's a great piece of music and was written by Gerry's brother Jim.
