Just... Aural Perfection!,
This review is from: Takk... (Audio CD)
This is going to be short - I'll try to convey my feelings towards this album as succinctly as I can. (Primarily because I'm listening to this as I type.)
This is a CD of requiescence. Drifting off (to sleep, or another place entirely,) Meditation, or just generally being calm. Finding a quiet place in your heart, in your mind or your actual surroundings, putting this CD on and being transported out of your everyday life, essentially out of your body, to another place where there is only harmony and serenity. Everything is now right in the world, you don't see time pass by; you miss your exit on the train; you forget to eat some dinner/lunch/breakfast - you live only, for the hour and a bit that this is playing, in the landscape that these guys create for us.
Sigur Rós' use of various, and sometimes strange and obscure, instruments is a major key to this feeling. Whether they be vocal, wood, stringed, it doesn't really matter. This band has the ability to create another world in your mind using their mortal beings and some man-made instruments to transport you there.
This CD costs only, what, like a tenner at most? This is priceless. This is aural art - priceless music. Something that you will treasure for the rest of your days. I guarantee it.
