This review is from: English Electric Part 2 (Audio CD)
The second part has a more deeper feel in general then the first part with melodies creeping up on you over time. The opening long track East Coast Racer is very good and very involving but probably the least accessible track on the CD. Swan Hunter has some thoughtful lyrics and the vocal production makes you feel he's in the room with you. Worked Out is also another beautiful melodic and effecting track. Leopards has a beautiful melody. Keeper of Abbeys has a great fiddle solo by Rachel Hall, ex Stackridge and The Permanent Way closes with a creepy exchange between guitar and fiddle. The closing, Curator Of Butterflies is a stunningly emotive and beautiful track that I found very effecting. The musicianship is brilliant as usual and I especially like the brass arrangements throughout. These last two albums have really seen Big Big Train more to a new destination.
