When I first got mine (about a year and a half ago from the states) I thought this was the coolest little toy I had managed to get my filthy little mitts on. And it was. For about 6 months. Initially, I couldn't be happier, file transferring was a doddle, software worked perfectly etc.etc.
Then it started crashing. Very rarely at first. I thought that, seeing as it has a hard drive inside, all the best hard drives crash once in a while. So I didn't use it for a while apart from when it sat on my desk and it worked fine. Then I took it to uni thinking it would be great for those 1/2 hour walks to lectures in the morning. It wasn't. I have had 4 major problems with it.
1) Occasionally, it just won't start up. The loading bar gets to three and it just stops.
2) It will sometimes just stop a song and return to the root menu.
3) Sometimes it will just reboot itself in the middle of the song.
4) Sometimes, more often than it used to, it just crashes. The screen freezes and playback stops.
These have finally gotten too much to handle and I'm emailing customer support. Too bad for me the warranty has run out. As I said, if sat on my desk acting as a 2nd hard drive, I have never had a problem with it but as soon as it leaves my room and goes into my pocket, problems start. To be carefully considered before purchasing.
