This set arrived this morning and I'm only on the third disc, but I cannot wait before heaping praise on it. Most of the offerings have been available before in various formats, indeed I already have quite a few of them, but the re-mastering in this release works very well: the voice is nicely 'forward' without drowning the piano or orchestra.
For 14 CDs and the bonus DVD ('An Ordinary Diva') this really is a bargain at the current price. With loads of oratorio and Lieder pieces by Brahms, Mahler, Schubert, Schumann, Bach and 20th century British composers, along with her more 'folksy' stuff, this will speak to the condition of anyone who is a serious music lover.
The 170-page booklet has notes in English, French and German, and the original aria and song lyrics, with English translations for those not already in that language. The CDs are in cardboard envelopes, with photos of the artists on the front and the track listings on the back.
Hugely recommended, even if you already have a fair bit of her work.
