This review is from: The Infernal Devices 2: Clockwork Prince (Paperback)I love, love, love the Infernal Devices series, even more so than Cassandra Clare's The Immortal Instruments (TMI) series. These books are somehow slicker, they retain the humour from TMI, but nothing ever falls flat here, the pacing is also better as is the general flow of Clare's writing.
Tessa, fascinated me in book one, Clockwork Angel, in an endearing way, but here I find it refreshing to see her develop. She is less naive, and starts coming into here own...I can't wait to see how she evolves in the next book. I'm not a fan of love triangles but the one between Tessa, Jem and Will worked wonderfully, to keep me engaged. I started rooting for Jem - how can one not! Though all the while you do feel as though Will and Tessa are meant to be together. The ending to this was quite a surprise! I love the whole steam-punk, old yet new feel to these stories.
My love for Magnus Bane grows stronger and stronger, though alas, he remains quite interested in people of the opposite sex...to me. On the other hand, Jessamine who was always self-absorbed got started to get even more moody...and the little bit of liking I had had for her at the start of Clockwork Angel disappeared.
If you liked Clockwork Angel, I think you'll love Clockwork Prince!
