Perfect Comic Pick-Me-Up,
This review is from: Book of Bricks (Paperback)
I can't remember how many times I have reached for my copy of this slim volume (now practically in pieces) just to re-read some unforgettable anecdote from Robert Morley's seemingly infinite collection. The book is simply a series of short accounts of someone "dropping a brick" (i.e. making an unguarded and ill-judged comment to the wrong person at the worst possible time) contributed by Morley's wide circle of friends and acquaintances. You will find yourself reading aloud from it, as the people around you will soon demand to know what it is that you find so funny.
There are bricks for all tastes and circumstances, carrying political, elitist, racist or simply personal insults, but among the rich pickings herein assembled, most of my favourites are attributed to the genius of Sir John Gielgud, who would doubtless have invented the genre if it hadn't already existed. Absolutely hilarious and guaranteed to lift your spirits whenever the need arises.
