This review is from: A Nightmare On Elm Street [DVD] (DVD)
I stayed up late by myself with the lights off to watch this and it was so scary it gave me nightmares! The death scenes are quite gory and violent, especially the last one (which is really shocking), and the film has a lot of dark, suspenseful parts when Nancy is being chased by Freddy etc.
However, the acting by the girl playing Nancy is AWFUL she is so wooden and annoying. It has a young Johnny Depp who is almost unrecognisable, and Robert Englund is sinister and creepy, as all the other reviews have said.
Overall, this is a lot scarier than something like Scream, and very violent, but the acting takes it down to a 4. Oh and the ending, I don't get it. Does he come back, is it all a dream... I didn't understand and it left me confused, when I would have prefered a more definate ending.
Apart from that, very good.
