I absolutely love this book!
As a teacher I often read books aimed at children/teens for inspiration when I teach a philosophy or ethics module. This book is absolutely perfect for both. The story/ discussion format is excellent to use as a resource to begin a philosophical discussion (P4C) but I would also recommend it to those students that show a propensity towards deep thought or simply enjoy talking about subjects that have no definitive answer.
The book is ideal for KS3 students in terms of language, challenge and pace, but could certainly be used with older students to spark an interest. Rarely, if ever, have complex issues been made so accessible to young people. I also find it to be really well presented and absolutely love the drawings!
In terms of content, the choice of ideas and the reference to academics is excellent. I particularly enjoyed the first chapter on vegetarianism.
My one criticism would be that some of the names of chapters are quite similar and don't really make it obvious as to what would be discussed. This could potentially put a child off.
I honestly believe anyone that teaches RS, Philosophy, Ethics, Citizenship/ PSHE should own this book. Buy it!
