Partly outdated and lacking relevance,
This review is from: Secret Intelligence: A Reader (Paperback)
Given the extensive expertise of the editors and of most of the contributors, (and the price of this book), I expected more.
How is it possible that with the first edition published in 2009, the contribution on "Intelligence and UN peacekeeping" dates from 1994? The editors should be aware that in the fifteen years between 1994 and 2009, a lot has happened in relation to how the intelligence support function is implemented in UN peacekeeping operations (or at UN HQ level). Why is no mention made of the UN's Joint Mission Analysis Center (JMAC) concept and its implementation? Why is no mention made of the EU's approach towards Intelligence? How about concepts like "Understanding" and "Knowledge Management"?
