This review is from: CushCase MacBook Pro 15" with Retina Display Case Sleeve Cover 15.4 Rainproof Canvas (Colour: Black)
If you want a sleek, attractive sleeve, I'd suggest looking elsewhere. If you seek discretion, and believe in function over form, this is the sleeve for you - especially at this price point.
Whilst I have no other to compare to, I chose this product primarily because there are no zips or other features that could scratch the laptop, nor poppers that always make me nervous when trying to force them open, and may not last - I'm hoping the sleeve survives as many years as the laptop. In fact there is nothing on this sleeve at all that could bring harm to your laptop, which for me is what makes this a great product.
It really is superbly simple - a giant, soft envelope into which the MacBook easily slides. The fit is reasonably snug with the smallest amount of movement (on a 15" MacBook Pro with Retina). The side seams are internal which offers more protection to the edges, and the fleece lining really is soft. It seems thick enough to withstand modest impacts, but it adds little bulk or weight. The velcro strip appears more than up to the job for now, but how it will stand the test of time remains to be seen. There doesn't appear to be any risk of it sliding out with the tab closed, and it easily covers the exposed end of the laptop. If you wanted to, you could have the charging port at the open end so you can charge the battery whilst leaving the cover on, but be aware it might get a bit warm in the sleeve; I would recommend taking it out to charge the battery.
The canvas seems well-made, and hopefully will survive the test of time; I've not had it long enough yet to find out. I don't intend on testing the rain-proof properties! My only concern other than the velcro longevity is potential weakness of the bottom corners.
It's not very exciting to look at or run your hands over, but it won't draw attention to what valuable item might hide inside, and I'm confident it will do a great job of protecting its contents wherever I go.
