Compassionate and Inspiring Words,
This review is from: On the Move (Hardcover)
'On the Move' is based on Bono's speech before the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington in 2006 along with photographs that he took during his first trip to Ethiopia in 1986. I especially loved reading about how Bono became involved in relief efforts in Africa. I was deeply touched by Bono's words which are a call for compassion and justice for Africa. Over 6000 Africans are dying every day from preventable diseases and we need to do something about it. I admire Bono for his caring and compassion and it shows through in his words. I highly, highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to be informed and inspired.
I also recommend lectures given by Stephen Lewis, who has worked tirelessly on helping Africans with AIDS, called 'Race Against Time.' These lectures shows that we can transform the world in a better direction to achieve goals of universal primary education, to stop the scourge AIDS and to create environmental sustainability.
I would also recommend some books on compassion from a spiritual perspective, including: an audio CD by Pema Chodron called 'Awakening Compassion: Meditation Practice for Difficult Times.' Also try 'Teachings on Love' by the revered Vietnamese Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh and a fiction book about how we're all interconnected 'NEXUS: A Neo Novel.'
