This review is from: The Happy Depressive: In Pursuit of Personal and Political Happiness (Kindle Edition)
The Happy Depressive is moving and thought provoking. Alastair Campbell takes a typically brave stance in his approach to mental illness, that is one of total honesty and plain speaking.
However, it is not just depression and mental illness Campbell writes about but happiness (and contentment) in general. He shares his ideas on where it comes from and how to find it. He writes about people, relationships, politics and his own day-to-day life in a way that people can relate to.
It articulated many thoughts I'd had myself and introduced me to new ideas and ways of thinking.
I would recommend this to anyone with even a passing curiosity of depression (and happiness). It is insightful and informative.
Hopefully publications like this can help people gain a better understanding of mental illness so that such a frank approach isn't seen as brave but just normal.
