3.0 out of 5 stars not as good as her other books, 18 Jan. 2013

This review is from: Three Women of Liverpool (Kindle Edition)
I've read several of Ms Forrester's books and although I quite enjoyed this one, it didn't engage me as the others did. The 'three women' are a spinster. Emma, who looked after her difficult parents until they died, then quickly found a boyfriend - a seaman - to whom she soon became engage. Gwen, her sister in law who is a cleanliness fanantic and is resentful of her sister in law's happiness, but feels guilty that she did nothing to help nurse her husband's parents (but wants to keep all the lovely furniture that Emma brought to her house when she moved in until her wedding), and finally Ellen Donnelly, the Irish next door neighbour with 5 filthy children and who resents Gwen as much as is resented back.

The war and dreadful bombing of Liverpool changes the three lives in many ways and throws them into unimaginably awful situations (I do not want to spoil the story).

I found the characters less 'believable' than those in previous books in many ways, and was disappointed with the sudden ending that left many loose ends. The 'about the author' was an unfinished page from the book? In the Kindle edition anyway.

I won't be buying any more of these books as I feel I've read the best of them - particularly Twopence to cross the Mersey.
This was a freebie, so can't complain I wasted any money!
