This review is from: All Change: Cazalet Chronicles Book 5 (The Cazalet Chronicle) (Kindle Edition)
I've just read all of the Cazalet Chronicles for the first time, and enjoyed them immensely. Howard's ear for dialogue is wonderful, and I became totally involved with the characters. However, reading them all back to back really highlights how much better the first four are. I knew All Change had been written after a long break, and shortly before Howard herself died, but it's almost as if it was written by someone else entirely.
Far too much focus on the new generation of Cazalets (ie Polly and Clarrie's children) who are very young, and are of zero interest to the reader. It all felt a bit 'written by numbers'.
A shame really. I wish I'd stopped at 'Casting Off'.
