I am the author!,
This review is from: Little Book of Bird Watching (Little Books) (Hardcover)
My name is Colin Salter and I am the author of this book. It was originally published to accompany a DVD in a WH Smith gift pack. I'm writing here to add more detail to the publisher's description above. As described above, the book includes detailed descriptions of the 72 birds on that original DVD, with references to many others. There are also three handy quick-reference guides describing the differences between some similar and often-confused birds: "big black birds", "little brown birds" and the many common species of gull. What especially distinguishes this book from other bird books is the addition of information about the folk lore traditions attached to each bird. There are also features on habitat, and a round-up of useful information on organisations for bird watchers. It is by definition a Little Book, not an exhaustive guide to all British birds, but it does include a great deal more additional background detail than most straightforward books about bird identification. Of course I'm biased, but I'm quite proud of this Little Book of Birdwatching. I hope you enjoy it.
