Looks great initially...,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Roberts RD60 Revival DAB/FM RDS Digital Radio with Up to 120 Hours Battery Life - Red (Electronics)
I absolutely love the way these radios look and this DAB version is fab, with extra functions such as pause plus which lets u pause radio for upto 17 minutes. However, despite incredibly careful cleaning and handling, the 'leather' is slowly peeling away in many places which is annoying to say the least, when you consider its price and the quality you would expect from a roberts radio. If i were to buy this radio again i would consider one of the hard plastic coated varieties that they now do.

My RD50 has completely peeled and now looks ridiculous! I have only used it at home too. Such a shame as it works well and looked beautiful when I first had it!

Yes but it shouldn't be so vulnerable U have to treat it like a new born babe. Remember the old Roberts from decades ago that this Roberts Revival is meant to be an up-to-date lookalike? The leather on them survived anything including hot sun sand and sea air (and water?) on the beach if I remember rightly.

I have found the same problem. The leather coating looks awful as though I have mistreated it. I did notice in a one of our local shops that the leather was already chipped on a new model. I love the radio but I wouldn't buy another.

I agree very bad quality in the case. The "leatherette" is no longer marcasite but a weird sprayed on plastic film over a polystyrene frame. This is meant to be a portable radio. I have only used it in the house but even touch the case with a fingernail causes indentation and then the "leather" skin peels off. I have hardly used mine and it looks terrible. I am going to complain to Roberts. Jessica

I purchased this radio for my wife to use in the greenhouse however the leatherette covering is so flimsy she is afraid to take it out there. Indeed the first one I bought I sent back to Roberts with a letter of complaint, in fairness they replaced it but the replacement has gone exactly the same way. One simply has to brush the cover with a finger nail and it will tear so after a year or so it looks like it's been trashed. I could not recommend this radio.
