This review is from: The Party And The Guests [DVD] (DVD)This classic Dubcek era film just made it to the light of day before the Russian tanks roled into Prague in 1967, ending the "Prague Spring" Of course "The Party and the Guests" was then banned until after the velvet revolution in the 1990s.
The film depicts in allegorical form the way the "masses" (including the petit bourgeousie) are toyed with by the rulers, who are made to look more like gangsters than rational Marxists.
The very end of the film is chilling - some of the "guests" make a break for freedom only to be pursued by massive hunting dogs.
