This review is from: The Best Of Linda Ronstadt: The Capitol Years (Audio CD)
1970's Linda Ronstadt - wow. Up there with the tennis girl's bum poster as a young boys comforter! And the girl could sing. I came to this as a fan of the LA mafia sound of the 70's, and wanted to hear what the Eagles sounded like as her backing band. I am not disappointed. Over the course of these albums if you listen in chronological order, you can see how Linda was groomed for super stardom. The next 10 years worth of albums were the ones that sealed the deal, and crop up on the best of's, of the LA sound. For a young lad, Linda was also a bit too free with her affections(like Stevie Nicks)with the other names on the LA scene. You'd always see young lads of a certain age pawing over the LP racks for the latest Ronstadt album just for the cover shots - rarely did she disappoint. These CD's show how she evolved from a girl who looked good that could also sing a bit, to a great singer who just happened to have the looks to match.
