Quality Online Game,
This review is from: Battlefield 2142 (PC DVD) (Video Game)
I read a few reviews on here before I purchased this game, some were really positive but one was very negative so I felt obliged to come and put the record straight one way or another.
This game does come with some added spyware/adware but EA state clearly that this will be installed and also the type of information recorded. It also states that if you do not agree with this not to install the software which is fair. However there is no real information on this untill you have actually purchased the game (or read a review) which isnt quite so fair.
I havent had any adverse affects on my computer due to this spyware. Now on to the game. As soon as you start the game you will be prompted to download an update which does take some time depending upon your connection and does ruin a bit of the excitment. However its a must as the patch is an update to stop some of the cheating which was apparently rife when the online game first launched.
I was a late starter so my rating was dismal compared to those who had been playing for a number of weeks already. The more you play the better your rating becomes and the better the weapons/upgrades you can unlock. This means that the first few hours can be really frustrating as you are easy pickings for the veterans. But stick with it and slowly but surely your rating increases and you are no longer the soft touch you once were. It is a steep learning curve for the newbie and you will get annoyed at first but once you get into it the online game does offer a lot and the time will just fly by. There are a host of vehicles to master, weapons to unlock and best of all nearly always a full game to get involved with. Addiction warning to those with essays/dissertations/exams or girlfriends, it could cause serious problems.
