Nice, but far too stimulating for sleep,
This review is from: East Coast Sweet Island Dreams Mobile (Baby Product)
This mobile is lovely looking, but it's far too busy to help my 16 week old drift off to sleep.
I think it's mainly the different movements that keep him alert but there is also an audible clack every few seconds when the characters spin round. Rather than creating a repetitive motion that lulls him to sleep, he watches intently waiting for the next character to move, then gets over excited when it does. The monkey night light is lovely, but again quite stimulating. If it dimmed continuously throughout the 20 minute cycle that would be better but it shuts off and my little boy then howls until I switch it back on.
Generally it's worse than having no mobile.
It also overhangs the cot much more than I'd expected, so getting him in and out is not a smooth motion when it's set up.
It's occassionally useful when he's waking up. I sometimes attach it to the cot to buy myself an extra 5 minutes at the end of nap times before picking him up, so it gets a few points for that. But even then it doesn't hold his attention for longer than a few minutes.
All in all, a nice product, and probably suitable if your little one is very easy to distract with colourful toys and happy to watch them for ages. Also fine if little noises don't bother your child, but otherwise I'd avoid. I certainly wouldn't buy it if I'd trialed it for free first.
