Beautiful folk from a beautiful voice,
This review is from: Beloved One (Audio CD)
This is a fantastic album that's full of passion and emotion and surprisingly really suits Lou's voice. Ignore anyone trying to compare this to Lamb, this album is better when taken as a completely seperate entity. This album can be compared to Beth Gibbons post-portishead album with Rustin Man, however Lou has distanced herself further from her past musical exploits than Beth by stripping the music back to very folk-orientated roots. I don't agree that this album lacks the impact of her previous work, but this depends on your musical outlook. If you need fast moving break-beats to give a song intensity then you won't find that here. It's all about the music and the voice - in my opinion it's an amazing piece of work!
