'A' for originality, 'C' for effort,
This review is from: Take To The Skies (Audio CD)My friend managed to get his hands on a leaked copy of the album, which he promptly sent to me a day after I pre-ordered it. Enter Shikari are like nothing I've ever heard before in my life - memorable, poignant lyrics with fast-paced, wide eyed raver lunacy, topped off with a healthy dash of generic screamo. And it works, brilliantly. I recently saw them live, and they were absolutely incredible. I simply cannot praise these guys higher.
However, I do have one small concern. The album has only 3 new songs on it. Out of 17 tracks, 6 are 'interludes' (intro, closing and 4 interludes. Out of 11 songs, 8 are not new, but just re-recordings of well-worn favourites. While this doesn't detract from the brilliance of the album, it did leave me a little disappointed. Having been listening to these songs for many months now, I was looking forward to hearing some new stuff, especially since the 3 new songs are all very good.
Whether this was 'laziness' or lack of time, I don't know. All we can do is wait for them to start work on their second album
