A great Xmas present,
This review is from: Turn Left at Orion: A Hundred Night Sky Objects to See in a Small Telescope - and How to Find Them (Hardcover)
I was bought this as a Christmas present after dropping numerous not-very-subtle hints! Having used it on three or four nights recently when the sky has relented and cleared up, I can say that the overwhelmingly positive reviews that this book has received are more than justified. It's very well illustrated and clearly written, and guides you straight to where you need to look to find the best that the heavens have to offer. It also describes and shows, in plenty of detail, exactly what it is that you're supposed to be looking for. It's really user-friendly, and the spiral binding is so handy. Using this book, I recently I found M36, M37 and M38 on the same night. OK, I know that these are all in the same constellation and probably very easy to find for some people, but believe me it was an accomplishment for me! I wouldn't have found these particular objects so easily without this excellent guide.
I'd thoroughly recommend this, for both the beginner and the experienced star-gazer and I've no hesitation in giving this 5 stars.
